Well done all of you who answered! Jack London was indeed an author who wrote "CALL of the Wild" , "White Fang" (these two were made into Walt Disney moveis) he wrote alot more- died just before his 40th birthday, grew up very poor,leaving school at the age of 12 to help support his mom, dad took off before he was born .Jack was born in th late 1800's. He lived in Alemeda ( at that time Alemeda was a dry town so they had to go across to Oakland to get their drink) "The last chance bar" is still in Oakland!!
All this is from my memory after a couple of locals told us he was an icon. There is a great bookstore here in Oakland "Barney and NOble" kinda like a chapters. anyway thanks for playing!!

About US
- Dionne, Steve, Kyle Maya , Emma
- We are a family of 5 who have lived aboard Orca III for 11yrs. steve has been living on boats for 25+ yrs Dionne for 14yrs and all three kids have only ever been on a boat. Kyle's almost 13, Maya almost 11 and Emma is 7. We have a dog, Lady (15yrs) and cat Maggie (3 1/2 yrs). We are planning to leave for our Big Offshore trip to the South Pacific this August. Watch for our updates during our adventure!!

Baggy wrinkles are anti-chafe devices used to prevent sails from chafing on the standing rigging. They are usually found on more "classic" looking sailboat. They look like caterpillars on the rigging.
Classically they were made by unraveling lengths of 3-strand line and tying then to the rigging.

HAPPY 13TH B-DAY KYLE!!! have an awesome party on the boat.
Baggy wrinkles used to be made from hemp rope and fastened to the end of the spreaders to prevent sail chaffing. They look like the long hair on the feet of shetland pony's.

I KNOW what Baggy Winkles are.....and they are NOT "WRinkles"...(Tim, Ron and Ruth, Danny-Lou and Andrew)...Tassels of unravelled line that are lashed around chafe spots to minimize chafing on the sails. Duhhhh..doesn't everyone know that?!? Ok then...now that we have that all settled. Hope you're all enjoying a very baggy winkling good time.
