Golden Gate Bridge - we made it!!!

Had a great sail out of Cresent City. sunny and windy - sailed the boat at 7.5-8 knots and had sea swells of 15ft. The seas calmed down around Cape Mendencino (usually they are more and windier there) had dolphins playing in our bow wake!! two different kinds of dolphin pods for about 3\4 of hour, this was on mine and Maya's watch right a sunrise. Kyle and I heard a whale but only saw his blow but he sure came up big on the radar!! It was dark out at the time. We motored on nearly flat ocean all day and night Monday until Drakes Bay where the wind came up about 15-20knots. We came under the golden Gate Bridge at sunrise this morning. Wow. we are now in Sausilito, anchored out. Steve's sister Annette and her boys will come out tomorrow and see us. have met up with Ian and Wendy of Earthlink ( they are from Bluewater Cruising Ass.) Enjoy the pictures of the Orca III going under the bridge.

We are so excited to hear you have made it to San Francisco.

Wow, what a landmark - it must have been an awesome feeling arriving, going under the Golden Gate Bridge.

With all the fires further south, you may want to hang out there for a while. Marg & Jay on Malachi are in Oxnard, north of Malibu & on their blog they say the boat is getting coated in ash.

Say hi to Iain & Wendy - not sure if they'll remember us.

Have a great time!

Hi Steve, I noticed your davidson on your fordeck in the photo, Are the davits needing some changes? Lot and Adrrien Sparham note that "Bajanaval in Ensenada(10 hour sail from SanDiago) is the best place on the west coast to do your own work and find professionals to assit if needed. Cheers

Exciting news! I am so pleased for you all and to know you have arrived safe & sound. I watched the satellite photo's of the smoke from the fires and it is amazing to see how far it extends out into the ocean.
Have a great visit with Annette. I look forward to your updates.
Love to you all.

Hi Everyone

We snitched the kids when we went out to Sausalito yesterday to visit Orca III. They are now enjoying games and pool time with Grant & Lincoln. We'll take them back to Orca III on Sunday. D&S should be over in Berkeley by then. She says she and Steve will take advantage of the kid free time to get some painting (Dionne) and systems (Steve) work done. Silly people, we all know what they should be doing with kid free time ;-)

Sure....If I know them...Dionne is "painting" with the chocolate body paint...and Steve's "system" work is all about overhauling her engine!!
(wink, wink)Those three little ones came from somewhere!!
